How could the way we eat improve in the future?

Would it kill our government to actually subsidize HEALTHY food. OMG CHEAPER healthy food? Oh no, that would be too much work. Aw, would that cut into your profit margin, snack food? Or do you want everyone fat and lazy and uninformed consumers? Now get me a Diet Coke, lol!

Oh, and Obama, instead of chastising us about our habits, why don't you or your grassroots people attempt to put forth measures in Congress and the House of Representatives to subsidize healthy food and NOT just farmers' markets? Or is chastising better than action?

I also think we need programs to better inform consumers of their spending habits. Perhaps when they're young so they'll be smarter consumers when they're older.

So I forgot to say here I'm officially going to see The Action Design at The Chance Saturday night. The ticket came today in a UPS envelope that was ridiculously huge for the ticket. A regular letter size envelope could've sufficed.

Also I was getting a unresponsive script errors in Firefox that would make Firefox hang for ridiculous amounts of time. I created a new profile and it seems to be working much better. Plus Hot Topic's website isn't bitching at me that I don't have the right browser.

Look what I found!

I found a place near me that has free and drop-in Tai-Chi, Yoga, Meditation, etc.! Last night I went to this Tai-Chi for Neck and Back pain at my library and it turns out the place has free classes. I realized a long time ago, I can't really do very active, aerobic activities like dancing and kickboxing. I feel like Yoga and Tai-Chi are way more active.

As for Tai-Chi, I feel like I pretty much got the hang of it, unlike the first time at DCC. I was kinda self conscious though cos it was in the library lobby and was worried someone would walk in and recognize me (and start to make fun of me)

Plus on Sunday mom and I went to DIA Beacon and in the bookstore they had a music listography journal, which led me to the listography website. I just created an account the other day and may post something soon. But I certainly want the book.

This site's been around for a while. My mom got me to sign up for it cos she was using it like it was going out of style. She always completes surveys and gets free stuff from them. I pretty much stayed away from it cos I had no idea what to do on there. Then they had a weekly contest a few weeks back to make a "BzzScape" (as they call it - like a Facebook fan page) for your favorite, book, band, tv show, etc. and post it to Twitter, Facebook, and/or Gather. I didn't win, but I sure had fun making my first page (obviously Killola). I'm starting to love this site now! It's like making Facebook pages sans the bitchystricthavetobeofficialrepresentativesnobbery (guilt guilt) you feel on a daily basis if you have Facebook pages (as I do). Just tonight I made one for The Hype Machine because I didn't see any BzzScapes for it.

Oh and the outdoor mall near my Aunt's house in Colorado has prairie dogs that come out late afternoon. They were adorable! That and I got videos and pics of a bunny in the parking lot of Garden of the Gods.

Speaking of bunnies, I've been noticing more of these things lately:
Bunnies
Turkeys
Classic cars on the road.
High scoring baseball games (past few years, bothers the hell out of me)

So at the La Quinta Inn we stayed at coming back to NY in Blue Springs, MO, I happened to notice the landline phone (thus my new icon). If you don't know very well, one of fave bands is a Los Angeles garage band called Killola and one of their logos is the letter K with 2 parenthesis (damn I just had a serious brain fart now thinking of the word, parenthesis) as so.

So when I saw the phone, I immediately thought it could be the "Killola Phone." It doesn't look like the logo exactly, but it's damn close!

Anyways, I don't know why, but I've been listening to Daft Punk again lately. This combined with my love of 8-Bit and Acapella arrangements of songs led me to find some amazing amazings.

Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger  (NES Version)

Same song above, but a-capella

And my fave a capella arrangement of Spoon's Stay Don't Go.

And how about a Nintendo A capella  for good measure.

So I have nothing to blog about. That's about the extent.

Long Time, Eh?

Sorry for not updating this thing more. Emotional turmoil can be nasty. Also for a week and a half we were going to, from, and in Colorado (by car mind you) with family visiting my aunt, uncle, & cousins.

So Tuesday night we came back from Colorado relaxed for the most part. It’s Saturday and I *STILL* don’t want to return to reality (even though it’s set in). Not gonna type a full review, just some memorable points.

(Sun. night when we arrived) Saw Harry Potter 6 with my Aunt, Mom, & Brother. VERY good.

(Fri.) Went gold panning in Idaho Springs and mom pointed out the guy teaching us to pan seemed to mimic the vocal mannerisms of Mitch Hedberg. Also got to feed (and stroke for, like, a second) chipmunks and ground squirrels there (so freaking cute!)

After we ended at Red Rocks Amphitheater. There was a wedding going on and sound check for the show that night. The facilities were beautiful. I was gonna get a shot of downtown Denver from my camera but the battery ran out (got some on my phone though).

(Wed.) Toured the Coors Brewery in Golden with Dad, Mom, Bro, and Aunt. They have self-guided mp3 tours where you listen like you’re holding a phone. One of those things where you can say you went through the entire tour and not have to listen to all stations (unless you want to).

Afterward, found the railroad museum in which we found a very knowledgeable man that could talk your ear off about Colorado and American Western rail history (fascinating, but hard to concentrate in the heat)

Couldn’t stay long cos we had to get to my cousin’s house in Greeley so we could all go out to eat where my other cousin works (Old Chicago).

(Thurs.) Went to Six Flags with my cousin and her friend while my Aunt, Dad, Mom, and Brother went to the Rockies game (cos tickets were $5). After 24 years of being far too chicken to ride roller coasters, I rode several in one day. Got rained on early in, but we stayed anyway (bunch of people left when the rain came). Ate at The Cheesecake Factory in Denver (got to ride some Denver metro buses).

(Mon) Went to the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. Found a Lush store (on one of the chalkboard in back, tee hee, someone said Lush is like Crabtree and Evelyn on steroids). Boulder seems to be like the village of New Paltz on steroids. Got actual physical copies of The Onion newspaper in those newspaper vendors. Ate Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (could’ve had Haagen Dazs since it was across the street, but Ben & Jerry’s was right there).

After, went to a museum/art gallery called “Leanin’ Tree.” Something I’m not really into, but the rail history paintings were somewhat interesting.

Feels like I saw a LOT of Thomas the Tank Engine.

I-80 through Pennsylvania on the way there took FOREVER to get though cos of all the construction (lol at the “My daddy works here signs.” Past Ohio, everything is flat or cornfields.

Iowa and Nebraska along I-80 (going out) had windmill farms.

Passed by the largest truck stop (on I-80).

(Tues.) Went to Garden of the Gods (sans my Aunt) and took the tour bus around the red rocks. Our tour guide used to live in this area so that was a bonus.

(Sat) We were originally gonna leave for NY but stayed an extra day. Went to Flatirons Mall in Broomfield with Mom and my Aunt. Tried Orange Julius for the first time (was EXCELLENT!) The mall was huge! Had indoor and outdoor parts, an Apple store, and the usuals. The Build-a-Bear store had a Buffalo (what do we get here in NY? Hello Kitty.).

In Kansas I was trying to get a bug off the window by escorting it out with an old XM Radio channel lineup card (from 2005), when I tried escorting it out the window, the wind was so strong that it slipped out of my hand and onto the road. Quite hilarious actually. The guy from Maryland in the right lane was laughing too.

My Aunt and Uncle’s dogs and cats took to me (except for Rascal). By the end, Dime and Bailey (both boys, all the cats are boys) were both sleeping with me.

So that along with a few negative blips I'm not gonna get into, the trip was pretty relaxing. Still don't want to return to reality.

Oh Wii homebrew hackers, what WON'T you come up with?

Oh and one for the PS2. Import from Japan.

Just found these looking up a Nintendo DS Vibrator peripheral.

I seem to be finding more people lately who also want to see the epic things I want to see happen (at least with my loves).

After I volunteered today at the ReStore, my mom and I went in another thrift store near my house (that's moving somewhere by the end of the month). Lots of old, funny stuff. Like Sudoku game (with gun).

Other than that, I can't think of anything else to say, other than the fact that I just got over a cold.

And one more thing...

Well 2 actually.

My mom noticed it, but AOL and Yahoo's home pages seem to indicate that they're morbid and according to my mom, always showing who's next to go out of business. Like they're screaming a big proverbial "ha ha" taunt at these companies going out of business or they're always the first to tell you who died. AOL seems to keep count on that. Even have photo diaries!

Also, just a rant here but how is it that someone gets to a point in their life that they get "MySpace Annoying." Yes I'm going to coin this term. By "MySpace annoying" I mean constantly posting bulletins about how "bored" they are or post a video on YouTube or complain about how emo they are. Yes I know you guys are gonna tell me I can choose to ignore it, but it's people I like that are doing it. I think the bulletins are what bother me most though because it's like "enough already!" I just kinda don't care. Am I weird or horrible for thinking that or does anyone else feel that way?

Just brought up a lot of feelings I thought was over, but now realize I'm gonna have to deal with head on if I'm ever gonna get anywhere. That's all I'll say there. One minute I love my life, the next I hate it and feel guilty on so many levels.

So I've been busy as of late. Adams has been having seminars on various subjects such as gardening and cooking. Last night Kusum Gupta made this Carrot Halvah that was out of this world! I also went to this Italian cooking seminar with Roger Dodge last Sunday (yeah Super Bowl Sunday). The food was very good there. The seed starting seminar I found most informative.

I've also been going to crafting classes at Michaels with mom. Those are fun as well cos I get to make something and take it home with me.
Speaking of, I got a Xyron sticker maker that is one of the most awesome inventions ever created! If you can only take so much from a glue stick, buy that! You can make a sticker out of anything (even a shoelace, perhaps).

Plus I've been finding out about classes at the library.

Finding out about more activities with the local Chabad. I do have some problems with Judaism that don't sit right with me and I don't believe in, but I do love the sense of community I get being around those people.

Plus I started volunteering at my local Habitat ReStore on Wednesday.

I haven't been doing much in the way of crafting though because I feel like I need a motivation to do anyrthing in that department.

I don't know why, but I just find the subject of land administration so interesting. That and media/copyright law like who owns what and who used to own what. When I took a Native American fiction class back in DCC, we read a book called Who Owns Native Culture? Didn't read the whole thing, but the topic is fascinating to me for some reason. It seems like very dry material reading about it (so what if it's Wikipedia?) but it's still fascinating.

This cat they're featuring on the Nat Geo special resembles my late cat, Sam.

My mom wants me and her to eat less bread the next few months so we'll lose weight. I honestly don't know yet if I've lost any weight yet going to the new gym. In all honesty, I want to lose the weight I've gained the past few months sitting on my ass. I still feel so fail though.

Other than that I don't have much to blog about.

Seriously Viacom? You want to take away all your stations from us Time Warner Cable customers cos Time Warner refuses to pay an EXORBITANT increase (22 - 36%)? And on such short notice? You guys have such craptastic networks and I was looking forward to Collegehumor next month on MTV (or whatever they're gonna decide to call it).

Gahr! Guess we'll be without some of my fave channels for a while, you turds!

Brings me back to the whole ABC/Disney dispute ("Disney has taken ABC away from you").

But kudos to Time Warner Cable for thinking of the customer.

So I Got...

A digital camera, a gym membership to Planet Fitness (it would've sucked if it was Maximum Fitness again), a Hess truck, an SD card to go with my camera, gift cards to Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Aeropostale, and Bath & Body Works.

So I got this in my email today from Chabad.

"Lead a supernatural life and G-d will provide the miracles."

I don't how that's even possible, lol. I don't HAVE superpowers (at least none that I actively know of).

Another thing I don't how it's possible, last night I was listening to the opening track of the Whitest Kids' CD, and Timmy says "cut yourself with one hand while you jerk off with the other." How is that possible? You need at least one hand or finger to do such a thing. Very hard to fathom.

Well 2008 turned out to be a fabulous year. Hopefully, 2009 will turn out better.

So last night I was at the West of the Hudson transit planning study shindig. I spoke up and asked about plans for transportation to and from the local colleges. I'm feeling pretty damn proud of myself for such an accomplishment. People seemed to agree with me. Cable 6 TV was there so I was caught on camera a couple of times during the news story. There's also a pic of me right now at Mid Hudson News' website. I'm still totally on a high from it. Holy f%&*ing shit!

I wish I could get those guys to pay attention to us. Keep our input in mind because WE live here. You guys just "study" and come up here occasionally, say "oh that's nice" and leave. What about college students? What about the rest of us who are having a hard time finding reliable transportation on this side of the river?

So anyway, I'm feeling pretty proud of that accomplishment.

Oh and I found another Killola fan near me!!! She's from Middletown and goes to school in Harlem 3 days a week. Exciting!

WKUK at 92nd Street Y

Sorry it's taken me such a long time to post this but here goes.

So Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 I saw my one of my comedy idols, The Whitest Kids U’ Know at the 92nd Street Y Tribeca location. It was, needless to say a frickin’ awesome experience to see them in person.

First off, I got majorly lost going from the 1 train station to 92nd Street Y Tribeca. Once I finally figured it out (by asking a lot) I got there a tad late (8:03 pm), but it was okay because a) they were still letting people in and b) the warm up comic was on anyway. All the seats were taken, but luckily, a booth was open so I sat at the end and just stripped to my “I don’t do drama t-shirt” (hey, I still had my pants) cos I was overheated walking so much. Sitting on the edge, I felt like I had prime view of the guys, especially Trevor and Darren. When Trevor ran to hit Zach during the Abe Lincoln sketch, he grazed my pant leg! Plus I had prime viewing of Trevor and Timmy during Line Leader. However, I was struggling a lot to see what was going on on stage, I was moving over a lot and I felt bad about it. On the upside, Melissa was sitting in the same booth so that was cool. When they showed the new sketches, I had to get up to see them.

Anyway, after the show, the guys were gracious enough to stay for pics and autographs. I managed to get Zach and Darren’s pics with me (they were good enough considering the only digital camera I have is my phone - I gotta invest in a digital camera) and their autographs. When I asked Darren for his autograph, I had the page open with my notes about how to get down there. He jokingly asked if it was “phone numbers.” I laughed and said no (I should’ve told him it was notes about how to get down there).  I talked to Timmy as well. Complimented him on the fact that he lost weight. He said he’s been eating more vegetables. I told him my some of my favorite vegetables such as broccoli, celery, and carrots. He said broccoli is one of the best things a woman can eat. I stood around awkwardly for a little while longer before I realized I needed to check the train schedule I had. I said my goodbyes and walked back to the subway station where I realized I lost my Metrocard and had to buy a new one.
